My nephew died because of incompetent doctors
Deepak Chandrani died in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital because Gastroentrologist Dr. Gaurav Mehta did not inform / counsel the serious side effects and infection risks of the Biologic Exemptia Adalimumah injections before prescribing it to Deepak, who was unhealthy, suffering from severe malnutrition. He cannot tolerate the injections. This injection didn't worked on him and instead it accelerated, worsened and flared-up the ulcer and infection increased very high(PCT and Serum= 46 SEPTIC or severe sepsis). He was admitted emergency in the hospital and had to undergo urgently for surgery.Surgeon informed that they had removed 3 litres puss and there was no ulcer. After surgery Deepak had sepsis. His infections increased. Antiobiotics didn't worked on him because Adalimumab injection suppressed his immune system and it can't fight the infections. The infection started increasing and he had a multi organ failure(liver+ brain), fatal blood disorders and new viral, fungal and bacterial infections such as leptospira. He was in ICU for 14 days and later on died.It is the ethical duty and responsibility of the doctor to inform the patient and his family the serious side effects and infection risks of Biological or Immunosuppressant which was NOT done in this case.We later on found this side effects of adalimumab injection: "Adalimumab suppresses tumor necrosis factor(TNF), which is part of the immune system, latent infections such as tuberculosis can be reactivated, and the immune system may be unable to fight new infections. This has led to fatal infections in some patients. After a number of studies and reports of adverse events in patients receiving adalimumab—including serious and sometimes fatal blood disorder; serious infections, including tuberculosis and infections caused by viruses, fungi, or bacteria; rare reports of lymphoma and solid tissue cancers; rare reports of serious liver injury; rare reports of demyelinating central nervous system disorders; and rare reports of cardiac failure."If the doctor would have informed us the above serious side effects we would NOT have given this Biologic injections and Deepak would have be alive now.Previously he was discharged 3 days before emergency surgery from this hospital then why the puss was not found when the CT scan, X Ray, blood report was taken. The doctors couldn't diagnosed the problems, the puss before and could not the right decision at the right time. If the surgery would have been when he was already admitted before emergency than Deepa would have been alive. The doctors are inexperience and incompetent in decisions making. Also they didn't inform us what went wrong that emergency surgery needs to be done.I have informed and send the detail email to Dr. Milind Khadke Admistration clinic management and done follow-up to taken action but NO ACTION taken yet.The hospital charged 13 lakhs for the treatment for 14 days.We like to have claim for the pain and suffering that we have undergone for the lost of dear nephew. I hope the transparency, ethics of the hospital are followed and trust of the patients and their family are maintained. We see that the management take the appropriate steps, measures and action in this case and ensure that such incident never happens again with other patients. After investigatinga lot, I found this link "Preparing for Biologic or Immunosuppressant Therapy". Please go through this link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3264940/, In this Q& A, interview article, Here it clearly says that:1)Dr. should NOT prescribed this Biological or Immunosupressant therapy to any patient who is very weak and who cannot tolerate it. In this case my nephew was very weak, suffering from severe malnutrition still this aggressive biological injection was prescribed by Dr.2) Pre-testing must be done for the TB, Heptatis B and other required disease, which was not done or advice in case of my nephew.3) The risks involved with these therapies should be discussed, but clinicians should also explain that, in the right setting, the benefit of these treatments can far outweigh the risks. Risks of biologic and immunomodulator therapy include infection, an immune-allergic phenomenon, anaphylaxis, and lymphoma. All these serious side effects and infection risk were NOT informed to us by Dr.It is Dr.'s duty to inform the patient and his family the side effect and infection before Preparing for Biologic or Immunosuppressant Therapy but it was NOT done in this case.We got the below details of the Adalimumab injections from google later on. If Dr. have informed us earlier the side effect and infection related information, we should NOT have given this therapy to my nephew .https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adalimumab#Side_effectsAdalimumab side effects deaths:http://www.druglib.com/reported-side-effects/humira/seriousness_death/http://www.druglib.com/reported-side-effects/humira/seriousness_death/reaction_sepsishttp://reference.medscape.com/drug/remicade-inflectra-infliximab-343202#3Serious - Use Alternativeadalimumab and infliximab both increase immunosuppressive effects; risk of infection. Avoid or Use Alternate Drug. The nurses services needs to be improved. Most of the nurses are south indian, they don't understand hindi properly. Even after patient ringing the bell for help, the service were delayed. In one case, the drip / injection bottle stand fall on the ground."I will not give a single star to this hospital. its worst hospital only want money and life is like a experiment and they try each and everything on your body."Please BEWARE of this hospital and raise awareness among people and don't get treatment and admitted in this unethical and untrustworthy hospital
