Introduction
Dr. Guruprasad Shetty is a consultant hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgeon at Institute of Liver Diseases, HPB Surgery and transplantation, Global Hospitals, Mumbai. He is a qualified surgical gastroenterologist and completed his fellowship in liver transplantation surgery from the St. Marys Hospital, Catholic university of Korea, Seoul. Working at some of the busiest and most reputed institutes in India and abroad, he furthered his training in hepatopancreatobiliary and liver transplantation surgery at the Institute of Liver transplantation & Regenerative Medicine, Medanta-the Medicity, Gurgaon. As an independent consultant, he has been instrumental in the operational activity of the Liver transplantation programme at Jupiter Hospital, Thane.
His areas of expertise and current practice include living donor and deceased donor (cadaveric) liver transplantation, and hepato-biliary surgeries. He has also undergone advanced training in laparoscopic hepatobiliary surgeries. He has participated in many national and international conferences. His academic and research interests have been presented and published at many scientific meetings and international journals.
